India biggest political event, the 2024 Lok Sabha election, is all set to begin starting tomorrow i.e. April 19, 2024. The voting will take place in seven phases similar to the 2019 general elections.
The Election Commission of India on March 16, 2024, had announced the dates for Lok Sabha and four assembly elections. The Lok Sabha will commence on April 19, 2024. As per the EC announcement, the result of the elections will be announced on June 4.
The ministry said among vegetables, the all-India average retail price of potato is about 12% lower than last year’s while the price of onion is about 5% higher than a year ago. On the prices of tomato, the ministry said, “The prices of tomato has increased in recent weeks on account of a combination of factors like crop seasonality, white fly disease in Kolar, instantaneous arrival of monsoon rains in northern part of the country which adversely affected tomato crops in Haryana and Himachal Pradesh and logistics disruptions in isolated areas due to heavy rains.”
Nearly 970 million individuals are eligible to vote in the forthcoming elections, which will be held across more than 1.2 million polling stations. Ahead of the announcement, the election commission visited all states to evaluate their readiness.
