10,503 people have been accommodated in government relief centres in 12 districts after heavy rain lashed different parts of the state since Thursday morning.

Tuticorin district recorded 118.82mm rainfall the highest for the last 24 hour period ending 6m on Friday. It is followed by Tirunelveli, Nagapattinam, Virudhunagar, Dindigul, Maduraiand Kanyakumari. Krishnagiri recorded the lowest rainfall of 0.40mm.

Major reservoirs continued to receive good inflow with incessant rainfall being reported in the catchment areas. On Friday morning the discharge from Mettur reservoir was maintained at 24694 cuses.
